The Trial

They meet up with Maya and Bruce near the center of the town, “Maya! What happened to you? And what is Windy doing here?”Leo asked, struggling to hold lily’s limp body. Maya ignored him, she scrambled over to her sister side. “Leo! What happened to our sister? And why is Carson here?” She asked, as she rapidly checked the gash. “Long story, I’ll make it short. Lily was attacked by a dark hybrid and this guy…” he said, pointing to Kai. “Killed his own kind to rescue Lily. I still can’t trust him, but I can’t let him be turned into crow-food when Varian finds out what he did.” Leo mumbled. Maya glanced at Kai, who flinched and looked away. “What about you sis?What happened to you?” Leo asked But before Maya can say anything, “we were attacked by an angry teenager that shoot out fireball at us. He almost got us all killed, Windy knocked him away from Maya and I hit him over the head. He is going to be so angry when he finds out.” Bruce explained. Hope’s mouth dropped in shock and Leo looked at Maya, his face pale. “We’ll tell you all about later, right now Lily needs medical attention.” Maya said, motioning Leo to let her have a turn carrying Lily. Windy went over Maya and whispered something to her, Maya nodded. “Windy is going to leave, but he’ll come us soon.”she explained, as Windy walked away, disappearing into the crowd. They walked out of town and they reached their cousins house. Bruce opened the door and they stumbled inside, covered in snow. Greenpaws was just walking down the stairs from the second floor when he spotted them. “What happened? You all look terrible, and what happened to Lily?” He asked gruffly, his eyes widened as he as reached the bottom of the stairs. “Long story, uncle. But we can’t tell you now, we need to get her to Ashpaw.” Leo explained, already racing ahead to tell Ashpaw what happened. Greenpaws glanced at Kai that was standing next to Bruce, Kai turned his head away. “And who is that fellow? He has the same black hair and eyes of the dark hybrids! Why did you bring him here?” He rasped, glancing at Maya for answers. “We’ll tell you about it soon, but right now our first priority is to help Lily. She was attacked by a different dark hybrid than this one.” Maya muttered, already going down the stairs with Lily in her arms. “Then let pray that she will be ok.” Frostfur explained, coming out from the basement with Leo trailing behind her.

Meanwhile in the alleyway, Mag was slowly regaining consciousness. He moaned as he opened his eyes, as he painfully stood up. He shooked his head, trying to get the fuzzy feeling out of his head. Then he looked around and spotted the metal pole that Bruce used to knock him out. His eyes burning with anger as he grabbed the metal pole. “Fool. You shouldn’t have done that to me and now you shall pay.” He growled, bending the metal pole in half. He toss it away and it crashed into trash can with a loud clang. Then he heard someone talking, and he looked around the corner. There was two teenagers was standing near him, a boy with messy brown hair and bright brown eyes, he was wearing a red hoodie. And a girl with the same color hair as the boy with crystal blue eyes. Mag inches closer, trying to hear what they were saying. “Brother, why did you left me in the sky? I nearly crashed into a jet again.”the girl muttered, lifting her purple hoodie over her head. “Sorry Luna, but I spotted Maya being attacked by a large teenager, larger then most teenager I have ever seen before.There was a boy with her, his name was Bruce I think.” The boy explained, glancing around. “Did you rescue her?” Luna asked. “Yes, I knocked the large teenager away from her, then Bruce used a metal pole to knock him out. He also told us that his name is Mag.” Jax mumbled. Mag’s eyes widened as he heard his name. Luna gasped, grabbing Jax’s hand. “Apparently what I heard from Bruce, Mag can control temperature somehow, so keep your eyes out for him, Flurry.I don’t want you get your feathers burned.” Jax muttered, gently squeezing her hand. “Do you think that the people who created me are still looking for me? I never want to go back to that horrible place, ever.” Luna said, looking into the boy’s eyes. “If they are, I’ll knock them out and give them a good lesson that they will never forget.” Jax said, giving her a little wink. Luna nodded, “then may the spirit of the Old King will be with us through this dark time.” She whispered, as she and Jax walked away. Mag stayed in his hiding spot for a few minutes before coming out into street. “Flurry, huh. I never thought I would hear that name again and it’s time that I did. Time to bring you back home 6-5-3-6, where you belong.” Mag explained, smiling wickedly. He took out his phone and dialed the numbers. The phone rang for a few seconds before a young voice answered him. “Hello, this is Adam speaking. What do you want?” The voice explained. “Adam, it’s me, Mag. Can you please sent me the twin brother? I found what we have been looking for all those years.” Mag explained. “What! Is it her? The one that fled from our lab?” Adam asked. “Yes, and apparently I found out who she is hanging out with.” Mag smirked, watching Luna and Jax went into a bar. “Who? How did she hide from us?” Adam asked, his voice quiet. “She has been hanging out with a boy named Jax, the famous teenage singer. But I think he’s also a hybrid like her. Apparently they can shape-shift to look like us, that how she can blend in with the crowd.” Mag muttered. “Huh. That’s interesting. Ok ,I’ll sent them.But I need them to do a job first before getting her back, if you ever need more backup, call me. And do not let her escape.”Adam grunted, hanging up.

Meanwhile back at their cousin’s house, “Ashpaw. How is she doing?” Leo asked as he came down the stairs. “I can’t rightly say, the gash is pretty deep. I also found some traces of nightshade in the wound. Shadyfur probably put some on his dagger before, you know.I gave her some marigold and put some poppy seed powder on her wound. But right now she has a high fever and doesn’t seem to get any better.” Ashpaw sighed, pressing a wet cloth on lily’s head. Lily moaned and Leo winced. “Nightshade only grows in darkest places, like the mountains in the east. It’s so deadly, it can kill an giant. If I had some Stardust Blossom I can probably draw out the remaining Nightshade.” She explained. Leo nodded. “I’ll tell Maya about this. We’ll start searching for this plant. What does it look like?”Leo asked. “It’s bright red with five petals on it. Make sure you get a big one, I need as much of this precious juice.” She explained, as she rushed to the bathroom to rewet the cloth. Leo nodded and quickly went the stairs. He burst out the basement door and went into the living room where Maya was talking to the students, she stopped talking when she saw Leo. “Brother? How’s Lily?” Maya asked. “Not good. She has a fever. Ashpaw needs some Stardust blossom to get rid of remaining Nightshade she found in Lily’s wound.” Leo muttered , looking outside. Maya nodded and turned to Zeve Who was talking to one of his soldiers. “Zeve? We to look for Stardust Blossom for Lily, can you sent out three group with at least 5 people in each group. Please try to take the strongest person to be involved in this process.” Maya explained. Zeve nodded and started shouting out orders to the crowd. Kai strolled up to Maya, ignoring the growl and hiss from the soldiers nearby. “If your going out there, I better tell you this. You need to watch out for Koosa. He’s a human-fossa with only one eye, he lost his other in our last battle with Zeve’s army. He’s one of our top spy in our army, so watch out for him.” Kai muttered. “Let me guess, he may be on our tail already. Ok, Zeve! We need about two soldiers in each group to keep an eye for Koosa.” She explained., Zeve nodded. “Can me and Karl come help with the search?” Bruce asked, appearing beside her with Karl by his side. Maya looked at them for a moment before nodding. “Sure, Bruce you will be in group one, with me, Leo, and Luke. Karl, you will be with Hope and Joy in group three with two other people.” Maya said,pointing to her cousin on the other side of the room. Karl nodded nervously before walking away. “Umm, Maya…. I think you are awesome.” Bruce explained, blushing slightly. “Oh, ummm…. thanks?” Maya stuttered, glancing at Zeve, who looked at her questionably. Then a soldier marched up to them, “we’re ready.”the soldier announced. “Ok, then. Let’s go.” Zeve murmured.

Meanwhile, back in Varian’s throne room. “He did what?!” Varian exclaimed, immediately standing up from his chair. “ Kai killed Shadyfur. I found his body and a dagger nearby.” Sharpfang explained, taking a step back. “Well, I never thought Kai would betray us. But now that he showed us where his loyalty lies, he will be no longer welcome here.” Varian growled. “does that mean we can kill him if we see him again?” asked a young black human-fox, twirling a dagger. “ Aye, stormy. if you see him, get of him. he is no longer any use to me anymore.” Varian snarled. " should we send out Koosa to do the job, my lord?” Sharpfang asked. Varian closed his ears for a few moments before speaking. " Yes, sent him to do it. Stormy, you will help Koosa with this job. who knows? you might see Leo again." varian explained. Stormy ears twitched, but didn't say anything.

20 minutes later, they were walking through the snowy forest searching for the Stardust Blossom. “Do you see any over there, Bruce?” Leo shouted, scrambling through some ferns. “Nope! Not a single flower.” Bruce shouted back, digging into the snow. “How are we going to find a plant in a middle a snowy place?” Bruce asked Maya, who was digging nearby. Maya stopped and glanced at Bruce before turning her head toward the rest of the group. “Ok everyone, I need you all to search farther ahead, me and Bruce will search here.” she explained, her fur ruffling in the howling wind. Zeve glanced back to Maya and nodded. “ You heard the princess! let’s spread out.” Zeve announced, stumbling away into a group of bushes. in a few moments, the clearing was empty, expect for Maya and Bruce. “Why…,” Bruce mumbled. “Shh! Follow me, you will see soon enough.” Maya exclaimed, paddling away into a hollow tree. Bruce scrambled after her, squeezing through the small gap. Maya sat down in the middle of the hollow tree, her green eyes sparkling with excitement. “ Bruce. I’m about to share you my greatest secret with you. I trust you for this, are you ready?” she asked. Bruce looked at her and looked back through the hole. Finally after a few moments of silence, he nodded. “ Yes, I’m ready.” Bruce muttered. Maya nodded and started humming, twirling her hands around. The ground exploded into bright green color as vines shot out of the ground, racing up with astonishing speed. Flowers appeared on the tree bark and ferns grew from the ground near Bruce. “ This is my greatest secret. I can control plants from your plants and I can make plants beyond your imaginations. i never shared this secret with any humans, including my own human friends. Until now.” she explained, lowing her hands. “ I already told you that Varian used to be my friend, right? well, I told him that secret and that’s one of the reason way he is hunting me down. I’m not the only one with powers, Leo can run faster then the speed of lighting and Lily can move thing 100 times her size. Windy can control wind and turn into a falcon. There are many other hybrids that have special powers of their own.” she continued, looking into his eyes. Bruce looked at her, opening his mouth to speak, but no sound came out. “ I believe that we were looking for Stardust blossom, right? but we don’t need to look for it, that was a cover. I can make it.” she muttered, already twirling her fingers in the air again. A bright red flower bloomed, golden dust swirls around the flower as it blooms open. Maya stop twirling her fingers and grabbed the flowers by the stem. “ There, let’s go tell the others that we found one.” she muttered, putting the flower in a small bag. they crawled through the hole and out into the snowy storm. “Maya! something went wrong!”shouted a voice. A moment later, Hope came crashing through the thorny bushes, her ears flattened in distress. “ What happened, Hope? where’s the others?” Maya explained. Hope turned her head to Bruce. “Karl is gone. Someone took him while we where looking for Stardust blossom.” she muttered, her head bowed.
